To Read

Books (individually,) manga (series,) comics (full runs) ☼

Full disclosure I do most of my reading in 15-30 mins in the morning and 15-30 mins at night so I get through things very slowly

  • Apprentice to the Villain (Hannah Nicole Maehrer)

Apprentice to the Villain

Hannah Nicole Maehrer ☼ 2024

Super cute and cozy, great follow up to the first book with lovable characters and the grumpy/sunshine will they/won’t they that hooked me in the first one.

Chobits

Clamp ☼ 2000

Like everything Clamp makes, unfortunately you have to ignore, like, pedophilia and incest in the context of this series and that immediately felt grosser than it did when I read this as a kid. If you’ve read/watched Cardcaptor Sakura you know exactly the kind of thing I’m talking about. Actually, in the age of real life people dating their AI chatbots instead of getting out and meeting people, and in the age of finally calling out the pedophilia being woven in the very fibre of our culture, this whole manga just hits different. It definitely feels like a deconstruction of the romance genre, and asks questions about what means to be a person and what it means to love someone unconditionally. Super interesting read to revisit in 2026, but it features a lot of fanservice tropes of the era very to its detriment, and I think if it regained popularity now it’d probably be pretty divisive.

You Weren't Meant to be Human

Andrew Joseph White ☼ 2025

So horrifying and visceral it put me in a reading slump for months. Great book ദ്ദി ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ )
